Support detainees held at Morton Hall

Morton Hall Detainee Visitors Group recruiting new volunteers

Morton Hall Visitors group is a small volunteer led visitors group based in Nottingham.

The Morton Hall Visitors Group relies solely on the work of the volunteers to deliver one to one support to men detained in Morton Hall Immigration Removal Centre at Swinderby, Lincolnshire.

Volunteer visitors are a lifeline to those held indefinitely under immigration act powers in the UK, and their commitment, willingness to listen and understand can hugely help reduce the isolation of those held. Some will be recent arrivals to the UK, others may have lived their whole lives here: whatever their circumstances, detainees are held in prison conditions often far from friends and family while they wait to find out what will happen to them.

It's a great opportunity for anyone interested in issues of migration, asylum and detention and concerned about the challenges faced by migrants in the UK, based in the Nottingham area, who wants to help.
