AVID is recruiting a Training and Membership Coordinator (Job Share)

A great opportunity for someone to contribute directly to the support and wellbeing of immigration detainees

Gee Manoharan, AVID's Training and Membership Coordinator, is moving to Birmingham to pursue further education in his chosen field: Biology. Although we are sad to see Gee leave our London office (and wish him the very best in his studies!), you can rest assured that he will continue to be working at AVID, just on a part-time basis and from a distance.

As such, AVID is now advertising for a new person to join the team, to job-share Gee's role and work on a part-time basis. The post of Training and Membership Coordinator is essential to our work in supporting volunteer visitors and immigration detainees nationally. This is the perfect opportunity for someone with training and development experience, and experience of working with volunteer groups, to contribute directly to the support and well-being of immigration detainees.

The Training and Membership Coordinator position is offered on a job share basis with the existing post holder. You will work together to support AVID's member groups through the provision of high quality training, advice, support, information and resources on all aspects of volunteer visiting in immigration detention. This includes - for example - delivering our bespoke training modules, and providing intensive development support and guidance to new groups.

Because this position is offered on a job share basis, the hours are 22.5 per week initially but this may be subject to an increase in future. The job is based at our offices in Hackney, but we will sometimes require the post holder to travel nationally. Due to the nature of the role, some evening and weekend working is required, and time off in lieu is given.

AVID is committed to operating as an equal opportunities organisation. We welcome applications from refugees, and in particular from former detainees, to reflect the composition of our user group.

For more information please see the job advert on CharityJob and download the Application Pack. Closing date for applications is September 24th.

For an informal discussion about the role, contact AVID's Acting Director Harriet Ballance by emailing harriet.ballance@aviddetention.org.uk
