Samaritans Training Day

Event: Training for Visitors: Conversation with Vulnerable People

As part of the programme of training we offer to all AVID member groups, we’re currently working to expand training available for visitors, and are really pleased to let you know about a great new course for visitor groups we’ve commissioned from a national charity, Samaritans.

This course will provide visitors with the skills to build rapport with a vulnerable person that they are visiting. It will equip visitors with the skills and confidence to handle challenging emotional conversations in a sensitive and professional way. It will also be a great opportunity for volunteers to share their own experiences of supporting vulnerable people and to discuss how we can work together to better support each other in these contexts.

All visitors from our member groups are invited to attend. Places are strictly limited and booking is required.

Date: Saturday 27th January 2018

Time: 10am – 4pm

Location: Wework*, AVID, 115 Mare Street, London, E8 4RU (* - the entrance is at Bocking street)

If you are a volunteer visitor with a visitors group and would like to attend, please book your place with Gee Manoharan, Training and Membership Coordinator: gee.manoharan@aviddetention.org.uk. The deadline to book a place is Monday 22nd of January. The course has already been paid for by AVID, so if you find yourself unable to attend, you may find someone else from your group or let us know in advance so that we can award your space to other groups.
